Naturopathy by Natural Rhythms Integrative Medicine

What is Naturopathy?

Naturopathy, or naturopathic medicine, is a primary healthcare profession that focuses on prevention, offers treatment alternatives to conventional medicine, and restores the conditions for optimal health. Naturopathy blends modern and traditional, natural, and non-toxic therapies to treat the root cause of a patient’s condition. It emphasizes individualized medicine as well as supporting health of the whole family.

What is Ayurvedic Naturopathy?

Naturopathy and Ayurveda complement each other in that Ayurveda is a holistic healing system that balances mind, body, and spirit to promote health and wellness rather than suppress symptoms of disease. Dr. Anup combines Ayurvedic tradition with principles of Naturopathic medicine to offer a systematic approach to diagnosis, treatment, and restoration of health.

How does Naturopathic Medicine work?

Naturopathy focuses on using gentle yet powerful treatments—such as a functional diet, therapeutic exercise, hydrotherapy, herbal medicine, homeopathy, physical medicine, and counseling—to guide an individual from illness to health, as well as to help with the prevention of chronic disease.

Dr. Anup Mulakaluri, Doctor of Naturopathy at Natural Rhythms Integrative Medicine

Dr. Anup treats a patient.

Pharmaceutical or drug interventions do not address root causes of illnesses; rather, they suppress the symptoms of illness and often prove detrimental with long-term use. The healing power of nature, also called self-healing, is the primary focus of Naturopathy. Correcting physiological imbalance helps to dismantle the foundation of disease. Our bodies have an inherent mechanism to restore health with natural and non-toxic therapies.

Who treats the patients?

As primary care physicians in the state of Washington, Doctors of Naturopathy (NDs) are trained as experts in science-based natural medicine as well as in the use of pharmaceutical drugs. NDs attend four years of undergraduate pre-medical college, prior to attending four years of graduate-level training in naturopathic medicine. Although similar in study to an MD, the Naturopathic Doctor focuses on holistic, proactive prevention, comprehensive diagnosis and treatment, and patient education and self-responsibility for health.
